Justin Townes Earle deserves all the awards

I’ve never watched the Americana Awards, mainly because I’d never heard of the Americana Awards. But I might have to look into it this year, since they recently honored one of my favorite rising stars, Justin Townes Earle.

At the 2011 Americana Music Association Awards at the Ryman Auditorium in Nashville, TN, Justin Townes Earle won the award for Song of the Year for “Harlem River Blues” from the album of the same title. Released in late 2010, Harlem River Blues was also nominated for Album of the Year at the year’s honors ceremony.

Justin also performed at the awards ceremony, which is up in its entirety on the NPR website. The show will air on November 19, 2011 as a special episode of the PBS series Austin City Limits. Haven’t watched much PBS since my Sesame Street Days, but this sounds like it’s worth tuning in for.
