The Secret Policeman’s Ball is an annual music and comedy festival to benefit Amnesty International. The Ball is a long-running collaboration between British rockers and comedians, and before this year has never been held in the United States. For their 50th anniversary, the organization wanted to do something different.
Amnesty International spokesman Andy Hackman told Billboard.com
“It’s really just using these amazing talented people to demonstrate the power, what a force of good free speech is.”
In past years, the festival led to amazing Live Aid concerts, and the organization is hoping similar magic happens this year. Coldplay and Mumford & Sons means they’re off to a good start.
