Kris Allen gets dark and deadly on sexy new track

Just a few weeks after his fantastic new electro-pop anthem leaked, Kris Allen is giving us a glimpse of another unexpected side of himself and his music. In a recent interview, Kris let the world know that he’s not the nice guy everyone seems to thinks he is (“I try to be good,” Kris says with a hint of a smirk, “…but it doesn’t always happen.”)

“Monster,” one of the songs he debuted at an intimate concert at The Mint last week, showcases Kris’s sexiest side, with darkly seductive lyrics, a relentlessly driving beat, and a grit that suits his voice perfectly. The song is a “cautionary cry” to his girl about the “dirty little secret” he’s been hiding that’s invariably going to break her heart, un-apologetically telling her at once to “be prepared” but then darkly adding, “go on and scream ’cause nobody’s gonna find ya.” Makes you wonder exactly what our American Idol has been up to over the last couple of years, doesn’t it? No matter. If it helps him make music this good, let’s hope he keeps it up.
